Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

man, i've been waiting for a post like this for a while now. before i start i STRONGLY recommend this book. you need a program that can read PDF files but here it is: -[link]- i'm not all that interested in quantum physics and didn't follow the part in the book about it, but here's just something i've been wanting to say for the longest time that slightly involves the little bit of posting i read before starting this reply now. i didn't read all the posts before mine, because i was in a bit of a hurry to post before i forgot what i was going to say, but here goes. first are my views on religion, i don't mean this to offend anyone, so if you're touchy on religion just skip this part. in my eyes, religion is simply an answer to life. people can't explain life, they can't explain free will, and they can't explain why we're here. people made up religion in a hope to not have to explain life, so they don't have to think about it. they can simply say 'god made us, and we're here to do his bidding'. i, myself, would love there to be a heaven waiting for me when i die. but when i look at our world, the violence, crime, nuclear weapons, guns, famine, poverty, and global warming do not support the theory of a great mystical being looking after us from the stars. in the book i recommended, it describes religion as bees. these bees are outside a building, looking through stained-glass windows. they are all looking for a different color and they are all seeing the same thing, but in a different shade of color or degree. all the bees are argueing about what they're seeing. one sees green, the other sees blue and one sees red. none of them know really what they're seeing because the glass is stained and there is no clear picture. just like life has no clear pictures. people of different religions are just bees looking through different stained-glass colors. as the bees look further into the building, they see more and more of the same color, supporting their beliefs. our modern religions have seen so far into the house, that they would kill to convince someone else how what they're seeing is really the real color. but what they don't know is they're all seeing a warped view of what life is because life isn't all green or red or blue. just like the inside of the building isn't. it's all kinds of different colors, but they can't see that. they only see different shades of their own color. i am agnostic, which means i can't find any proof of a God, but i also can't find proof dismissing the God theory. I'm not saying there is or isn't one. i'm just saying what i believe. i do not believe in an afterlife. i believe that when we die, we are gone. there is nothing left. our consiousness lies in our brain, and when the brain dies, we lose everything. there is nothing left of us. with this theory, i do not believe in the human soul. people often confuse the soul with the conscience. conscience distinguishes between good and bad, right and wrong, and is credited with common sense along with many other things. but sometimes people have 'diseases' which label them as conscienceless and i think it would be stupid to say they don't have a soul. now off religion and onto my theory of how the world and life was created. sceince, my friends, tells us why we are how we are. we begun as single cells which grew more and more over the millions of years the earth has been in existance. we grew, adapted, and learned from our environment. in central and northern africa, people are black and thier skin is tough. they're black because it's hot, it's sunny, and the sands and rough weather built up their skin. in europe, people are white, their skin is fair and so is their hair because of the environment and climate they were surrounded by. i am irish. i'm pale as shit when i haven't been outside, it's nearly impossible for me to keep a tan, and my skin burns easily. why? because i'm from a country with mild winters, mild summers, and plenty of rain. looking at someone's hands, you can tell how their family lived. their ancestors developed from the kind of labor they all did. farmers would have big, rough hands and artisans would have small, delicate, soft hands and so on. although science doesn't really explain free will, except to the extent that we have these limbs, why can't we use them the way we want? because there's nothing stopping us. if there was some sort of programming in our brains that said we can't do this or this, then maybe i'd believe more in god, or a government conspiricy. people think we're here for a purpose. i don't believe we're here for any purpose other than to live a life. i mean look at flies. what the fuck do they do? feed the spiders? the flies didn't evolve to feed the spiders. the spiders evolved to eat the flies. and the flies don't evolve to escape the spiders because they all die. what kills you makes the future of your species weaker. what doesn't kill you and you survive from will make you, and the future of your species stronger. it's like building an immunity to bullets instead of diseases. but alot more people have gotten sick and lived than gotten shot and lived. anyway, i'm goind brain dead. i'll pick back up on this later. hope you're all boggled in some way or another. very interesting, but unfortunatly mostly things i've thought about myself. i have no reason to convice anyone of a god. i believe in a god, and karma. thats my opinion and i hope you respect it like i respect yours. there was a brief amount of time where i was convinced there was no god, last year in fact. it was a very emotional year for me. many things in my personal life happened. i prayed, but to what result? nothing of what i prayed for. shit still happened. i was argry at god and i didnt want to believe in such a thing anymore. over time i calmed down. an episode of futurama actually helped with my beliefs in god. Bender (a robot) drifts of into space and gets hit my a small astroid that had a colony of small, small people living on it. this colony looked to him as a god. Bender gave them everything they could, being god. people got dependent on him when bad things happened. and in the end the whole colony destroyed each other. later in the episode he meets the REAL god. he told bender how he thought he was doing a good job as a god, but giving people what they want to often would make people dependent on him. "When you do things right, people may not be sure you did anything at all." or something rather like that. and that kinda got to me, made sense. kinda stupid but whatever works right? is there a god for certain? i dont know, no one does. all we have is faith. Reality is only limited by our minds. but i believe, if you believe in something enough. you can make it real, and thats what matters to me in religion. correct me if im wrong but i think we as humans only access 12% (or 20% i forget) of our brains. imagine if we somehow unlock all 100% access to our minds. we could probably most likey do just about anything. we could be able to control exactly how our body works and the cells inside it. probably even be fully psycic and telekenetic. anything is possible, like i said: Reality is only lmiited by our minds. Very interesteng... Agent i rememeber that episod of futurama, and it really did make sence. I also agree that reality is limited by our minds. About joker's post, many things you say sound logical, but i am not sure if any scientific creation theory has been entirly prooven (thats why they are all called theories). Even the renowned evolution theory is still just a theory. I am also not sure if scientists have actually discovered all of the stages of the so called "human evolution". If i remember correctly there are huge gaps in this evolution in which no one knows for sure what happed. Another possible argument for God, is why all of a sudden one group of apes gained ability of thinking logically and all the other "evolutionary" branches did not. I bet there one can construct an argument basing it on scientific theory, but damn that will be just another theory. And sometomes even solid proof do not make a theory in to a rule or a constant, this has happened many and many times in the history of the human kind. Karl Marx said that religion is "opium for the people" created by the aristocracy and burgeosies to control the masses. and that is a valid point of view, with a lot of proof behind it, but yet again its a theory. In my oppinion religion (if and when it is interpreted in a normal way) is a guide to morality to a race of beings who completly lack this morality. If it was bestowed on us by a higher being then good, and if it was created by people who posessed morality then good as well. and even if it was created for the sole perpous of controling the regular foke, then wtf its still good, because it can be "misinterpreted" and viewed as a guide to morality. |

to agent: i completly agree with your first paragraph. i'm not trying to tell anyone that there is or isn't a god. i'm saying what i think, and why i think this. about the futurama episode, i also saw it. and did you see how the people on the back of bender's case were? they were neglected by binder, he didn't even know they were there. and what happened to them? they built guns, bombs, nukes and so on, and the people that did know bender was looking out for them didn't need such tools. and bender stopped paying attention to them and they started dieing left and right. and then the others came and waged war on them. the other civilization on the back of bender (which never recieved any help from bender) is strangely alot similar to our own. their civilization is much like ours and they were in an absence of divine intervention. once again. i'm not telling you what you should think. i'm just helping you see the whole picture. to zad: everything i stated is a theory, because nothing can be proven and most likely never will be until someone manages to pull a time machine out of their ass. my theory on evolution from environment makes sense to me, therefore i accept it as true. i'm not telling you it is, i'm just saying i believe in it. religion can be used as a control substance. people who fear a punishing god are less likely to sin. but this system is failing us. because in christianity, our god is forgiving. people rob, assault, kill, and rape and then ask god for forgiveness and think that it's all cool because they weren't struck down. they might get caught and put in jail, but that's not god's doing. that's the government and police force. and to our fantastic flip of the evolutionary coin that allowes us to think 'logically' i think it was all a lucky draw. we don't know what happened because of the gap in evolution, so we can't prove that there was a devine intervention that said "You! Monkey! You will think, speak, and understand!" elephants think, speak, and understand. they speak through the noises they make with their trunks. i recently watched a documentry of scientists playing with a recording of the sounds an elephant makes and one of them (when played through the loud speaker) made them all run in the opposite direction. another made them circle up, with the young elephants in the center of the circle and the adults facing outwards. i was amazed when i saw this, and knew it wasn't just some coincidence. thinking logically is a bit general. some gorillas can speak sign language. they have the basic understanding skills of a toddler and then some. and we can't forget the lions or wolves. they hunt in packs, have a feeding system where the leaders eat first (not that impressive, but it counts) and can take down animals 5 times their size and power. we play counter-strike and it's hard enough for us to take down other people as a vocally communicating team. |

i kinda want to expand more on the idea of reality only limited by our minds. but there is reason out minds limit us, not only for complete control over ourselves (and perhaps others) but to shield us from evil. my dad once told me: Our minds protect us, you can kill people in video games and whatever, because you mind knows it isnt real. But if you were walking down the street and saw someone with a gun pointed to their head and fire, your mind subconsiously would not let you watch it. you would turn your head away or close your eyes right? | ||
