Ok, I need a new computer. What I need is something that will perform, but not cost a shit load of cash. I'm not going to put up a spending limit, but please, if you take the time to build one for me (would be greatly appreciated) could you also include the total of all the parts? I need everything except a monitor. Thanks a lot in advance. |

I don't know where you want to get your parts from but for under $1000 you can get a comp that hits over 200fps in source... CPU - E6750 Mobo - P5K-Premium Ram - any ram with 800mhz at least and 4-4-4 timings.. i have OCZ Vid card - 8600GT+ (gts, gtoc, 8800gt, 8800ultra, whichever you want in your budget... if you are playing source only and not better games then you can just get an 8600GT for like $130 if you find the right store. get BFG or XFX) Case/Powersupply -- at your own accord. I have an antec ninehundred case which is fucking awesome and I bought an OCZ gamestream powersupply with 700watts but you only need 550/600watts for what you have I just bought myself the same CPU for $189, the mobo for $180, the ram for $68, the powersupply for $100 and the case for $100, vid card for $160 and harddrive for $100 find the right store near your house and you've got a rig that can handle COD4, CSS, C&C3, WC3 etc etc... |

For ram get the Crucial ballistix PC2 6400 ram.. its bad ass i have mine running at 950mhz but it can still go higher.. Videocard i would suggest the XFX 8800 GTS Alpha dog. Dont get OCZ for power supplies... they are loud as shit compared to others plus i find them very cheap feeling. I would suggest the Thermaltake Toughpower 750 watt modular. the Asus P5N-T Deluxe is what i use and its pretty damn good for overclocking. Im running 3.5ghz right now at 34C with the Zalman CNPS 9500. Plus the chipset is all passively cooled with copper and heatpipes. BTW i built mine around 8-9 months ago for 1500$ and i get 250fps with an 8800 GTS G80.. get the G92 version like i suggested and you wont even have to OC to have the same FPS as me. Jesus, your recommendations are sexy... phate, I also love crucial, I have had dimms fail in the past, but shit, it's bound to happen from time to time. As for PS, I have had no problem with my ocz700w. Infact I don't even hear it. Maybe the raptors are covering it up =\ | ||

This build right here is probably the best you can get for under $1000. I've also included the parts necessary for some awesome overclocking. If you don't plan on overclocking, you should. If you don't know how, I'll help you the whole way through. If anyone's going to respond to this and say it's dangerous, shortens CPU life, etc... I'm going to literally kill you, because you have no idea what the fuck you're talking about. Anyway, I also disagree with phate about the OCZ PSU's. I'm using one right now and it's fine. Here you go. I didn't include the monitor and mouse, and you can change the case as you please of course.

That build is pretty similar to what I'll be building at the start of the summer, except I'm gonna probably go with the 9800GTX(when it comes out), a slightly different motherboard (has better PWM, but costs a more in exchange), a PC P&C PSU, and a few other additions(sound card and shit). |

Get a full tower, that way you can make your computer look clean as well. nothing beats a nice computer that looks like shit blew up inside of it. Besides its hard to fit your fingers inside those cases when you are trying to stick a 8800gt or bigger inside. The point of a case is to get ventilation. I used to have a mid. Believe me, with the new stuff thats out, bigger is definitely better if not a must. | ||
